«Perronimo» commercial and residential development
A unique partnership between Mettler Entwickler AG and the city of Wil has resulted in a pioneering project. Here, services, retail and urban living merge in perfect harmony.
The exposed location placed high demands on structural engineering, technology, and energy efficiency, with geothermal probes, heat pumps, and hybrid PV systems on the roofs ensuring a sustainable energy supply. Particularly noteworthy is the initiative by Thurvita AG, which has created 32 apartments for independent living in old age in the “Thurvita Quartierzentrum City.” The unique “Daheim – ein Leben lang” (at home for a lifetime) concept offers older people the opportunity to remain in their apartments and, if necessary, take advantage of Thurvita's comprehensive support services.
Untere Bahnhofstrasse 1–11 in the city of Wil, an important hub and regional center in eastern Switzerland, is extremely centrally located and has excellent connections to the train station. As part of this project, the city of Wil created at least 600 underground bicycle parking spaces that are directly connected to the platform underpass and the cycle path network. The entire development was built and certified as an SNBS site. A comprehensive mobility concept also promotes the use of public transport and reduces motorized private transport.
