Renovation and extension of «Gartenstrasse 8»
Mettler Entwickler AG played a central role in the extension and renovation of the striking commercial building at Gartenstrasse 8 in St. Gallen.
We modernised and extended this impressive building, consisting of a five-storey main section with a characteristic two-storey roof area that opens onto an elegant terrace overlooking Gartenstrasse, and a three-storey section in the inner courtyard. AGWAR AG put its trust in our expertise and set us the task of breathing new life into this impressive building and repositioning it as a landmark within the urban area of St. Gallen.
During the renovation of the commercial building, the first three basement floors were remodelled and the ground floor and first floor were divided up in flexible fashion for commercial purposes. On floors two to four, 31 small apartments were created, supplemented by new apartments and a terrace on the third floor. The dental practices on the fifth floor and the storage rooms on the sixth floor were largely retained, with new lift exits installed. In addition, the façade was given a fresh design, new direct entrances were introduced on the ground floor, all windows and the building technology were modernised and the number of lifts was reduced to make the building more efficient and aesthetically pleasing.
